Machining of a Cast Alloy Bolt Body for the Fire Arms Industry
A large project recently completed by Schmid Tool and Engineering is the manufacture of 12,000 EAU steel bolt bodies used within a firearm application. We produced the component, from design through to packaging, on a just-in-time delivery schedule.
Heavily experienced with firearm requirements, our in-house design experts developed the production gages, machining fixtures, and the investment casting needed to cost-effectively produce the 3" x 1" x 1" components with the required accuracy and repeatability required by the customer. Employing our 4-axis CNC vertical milling machine, our skilled machinists produced the parts from 4130 steel. Each finished part, manufactured to within the precise ±.0005" tolerances, was packaged in a partitioned box and shipped to the customer.
